Like Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Ohio’s governor has set his sights on unfairly attacking public sector worker unions.
Republican John Kasich signed Senate Bill 5 – destroying Ohio’s 28-year-old collective bargaining law – on April 1.
The governor’s action triggered a referendum campaign by the state’s union activists and others who are opposed to SB5 and vow to place an initiative on the Nov. 8 ballot to repeal it.
A total of 231,149 signatures are needed to bring the referendum of SB5 to the ballot. The deadline for collecting them is June 30.
According to the WeAreOne.com website, with unprecedented support from thousands of Ohioans, more than 10,000 volunteers planned to begin circulating petitions on April 25 to gather signatures. UAW Region 2B will be circulating petitions and would like your help if you are a member living in Ohio.
