There's no doubt it's a crucial time for effective labor communications by our members and retirees.

That's why local union editors, webmasters, Worker-to-Worker activists and other communicators are looking forward to the upcoming LUPA Communications Conference being held Oct. 4-9 at the Walter and May Reuther UAW Family Education Center at Black Lake in Onaway, Mich.

The registration deadline is Sept. 4.

The conference offers LUPA members and retirees a great opportunity to learn new skills, such as creating and maintaining local union Web sites, and honing other communications skills. Classes include hands-on instruction in basic and advanced news writing, photography, creating effective messages, fliers and other promotional materials, and many other topics.

The conference is held on the center's beautiful campus on the shores of Black Lake, a wonderful setting in which to learn and network with fellow LUPA communicators.

For registration information, visit www.uawlupa.org, or see your local president for the conference call letter.

Hope to see you in October!
