We Also Have a Dream
Like Martin Luther King, we Latinos also have dreams.
We dream of the right to be treated as equals. We aspire to have
work that lets us live with dignity. We want the opportunity to
contribute ideas in a meaningful way. We dream that our children
will have a good education and live in a better world.
Justice and dignity are issues of supreme importance in our lives.
Latinos can and want to be creative. We embrace the idea that we
should be judged by our work and our efforts. We want the right
to demonstrate we are capable of achieving what we set out to do.
Solidarity is key to our success. Solidarity means helping and
backing each other. Supporting actions taken among ourselves is
important. Like the name of our magazine, solidarity is the characteristic
that should distinguish us.
We Latinos and Latinas who are members of the UAW have an organization
that backs us up. Belonging to the UAW is important to us. You are
equally important to the UAW.
Let us unite with one another, and I assure you our dreams will
become reality.
In solidarity,
Haydeé Charriez
