Members know value of community service

Located in Hamilton, Ala., UAW Local 1990 represents 417 members employed by bearing manufacturer NTN-Bower. This local union understands the importance of service to the community, having reaped the benefits of their caring and recognition returned for their efforts.

In April, Local 1990 participated in their 4th American Cancer Society Relay for Life. This event continued through the night until 7 a.m. the following morning. After a night filled with food, entertainment and fun, the local union raised $14,000 for the ACS.

This event broke the local’s 1999 record when its members raised more than $13,000. This amount was reported to be the largest fundraiser for the Relay for Life in the area and the third largest in the state.

The local’s success is made possible each year by the entire membership which looks forward to breaking its own fundraising record again next year.
