From the director

Fall is just around the corner, and it’s my favorite time of the year. We can look forward to the leaves changing colors, football, and of course—elections. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of all working people getting out to vote on Nov. 7. We must support the people who support us.

Contract at Venture

I am happy to report that our Venture unit, Local 524, recently negotiated and approved their first contract. It was a long, difficult road with a very anti-union management in place. It took years before even the workers’ right to organize was recognized. Now these UAW workers will benefit from a contract that gives them job security, seniority rights, a shift preference agreement, and many other positives that come with a UAW contract. Congratulations to all of these workers.

Welcome new members

I would also like to welcome the newest members of Local 659. The workers at the ACCI Sequencing plant just ratified their first contract. We are still aggressively pursuing bringing additional work to the entire region. We will keep you updated on our progress.
