What's McCain trying to hide?
John McCain hopes you won't find out that he wants to tax your health care benefits.
And that would cost the typical UAW member $2,800 a year.
For the first time ever, your health care benefits would be taxed as income. Thetax will also apply to retirees and anyonegetting benefits from a Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association(VEBA).
Tens of millions of workers and their families could have their health benefits cut — or lose their coverage entirely under McCain's plan, which makes it more expensive for employers to offer health care.
With higher costs, fewer employers will offer health care, forcing millions to get individual insurance policies.
Older workers, retirees and people with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or asthma, will be charged sky-high rates — or even kicked out of their plans entirely.
