Workers take charge here
Fighting for a new global economy
Globalization affects us all – but it’s not completely out of our control. Through direct action, union building and coordinated global organizing strategies, we can shape our own destiny.
This issue of Solidarity focuses on how our union is responding to globalization, including:
• The UAW combining forces with seven auto industry unions to form a joint global organizing strategy.
• A U.S. visit from a Korean delegation concerned about the impact of the proposed Korea-U.S Free Trade Agreement.
• One American’s perspective on Thailand auto workers and unions after a 10-day visit.
Globalization has become a part of everyone’s daily life, no matter what part of the world you call home. And like industrialization and automation, it can serve the few or the many.
For the sake of working families, here and abroad, UAW members will work toward the latter.
