For these classes, drop the book and grab a club

Welcome to the seventh season at Black Lake Golf Club. To make this year even more enjoyable, here are some early golf tips.

To help you stay down when you are hitting from tight lies, try this drill: Place a ball on a tee about a half-inch off the ground using your favorite club and try to knock the tee out of the ground as you swing through. Repeat this several times, and then gradually lower the tee until you are hitting the ball off the ground.

For more tips and drills, come to our golf schools. The dates are set, and I want to encourage anyone interested in improving their game to sign up. Black Lake Golf Club schools have become popular for several reasons.

No. 1 is the teaching staff, which includes LPGA Touring Professional Debbie Massey, and PGA members Jerry McConnell, Doug Myers and me. Each school has a 3-1 student-teacher ratio.

Also, our schools are customized to fit the needs of each group and cover all aspects of the game. In addition to lessons on the tee, we provide on-course instruction and video analysis.

Finally, the best reason to attend one of the schools is the fun you’ll have interacting with your teachers. It’s our goal to make sure each student has a great experience.
