Web site to help local union editors
Local union editors, webmasters and video producers know knowledge is power.
That’s why they put up with long hours to keep our members informed.
Their efforts were strengthened when the International Executive Board eliminated dues for the UAW-Local Union Press Association (LUPA) and launched a password-protected Web site to help them go to print, post on the Web or release news on tape.
LUPA services now will be available free to any local that returns a membership card.
“Our local union editors, webmasters and video producers are out there on the front lines, making sure our members are informed about issues important to working Americans,” President Ron Gettelfinger said.
“We recognize and appreciate all they do to get the UAW’s message out to members and to the community.”
The new site, www.uawlupa.org, is an editors-only site where stories and graphics can be downloaded for use in local publications and on Web sites.
“The Web site is a terrific tool for local union editors because it gives them easy access to information 24 hours a day,” said Debi Kirchner, UAW Local 598 member and chair of the LUPA Advisory Council.
