Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., will deliver the keynote address to the 2002 UAW National CAP Conference in Washington, D.C.

Clinton, an advocate for children and families for more than 30 years, was elected to the Senate in 2000 with UAW support.

“She is a great senator and a great friend of the UAW,” said UAW President Stephen P. Yokich.

Yokich also will address the 1,400 delegates who are expected to attend the four-day conference, which runs from Jan. 27-30 at the Hilton Washington.

On Jan. 29, UAW local union leaders will head to Capitol Hill to lobby senators and representatives about the importance of keeping a strong Social Security system, protecting workers during the current recession, saving jobs and other key issues.

“We’ll be there to express the concerns of our members and all Americans about their jobs and retirement security,” said Yokich.
