Master Lock recalls 752,000 gun locks

Master Lock gun lockMaster Lock has recalled 752,000 gun locks that have been made in China since the company moved production from a UAW shop. Until mid-1999 the locks were made by UAW Local 469 members in Milwaukee, Wis.

The recall of all gun locks made in China since June 1999 is being made because the two halves of the lock can be pulled apart without a key, giving children or others unintended access to a firearm. The recalled locks were sold by Wal-Mart, Kmart, and Gander Mountain between June 1999 and July 2000.

Locks made and sold before Master Lock moved hundreds of UAW jobs overseas are not being recalled. These locks, sold before June 20, 1999, have the words "Milwaukee, Wis. U.S.A." or "Made in the U.S.A." on the lock’s rubber pad.
