UAW and Detroit Diesel reach tentative agreement on new contract
UAW Region 1A Director Jimmy Settles today announced that UAW Local 163 and Detroit Diesel Corp. reached tentative agreement this morning on a new contract covering 1,400 UAW-represented workers at the company’s Redford, Mich., facility.
Settles also announced that second-shift workers should report to work for the second half of their shift today, while third-shift and day-shift workers should report to work at their regularly scheduled times.
“This was a long, hard round of bargaining, but it’s produced a tentative agreement that will keep good jobs at Detroit Diesel’s Redford plant. That’s good news for workers, their families, their community and the company as well,” said Settles.
Details of the tentative collective bargaining agreement are being withheld pending an informational meeting and ratification vote by UAW Local 163 members.
