DETROIT– UAW members at JCIM LLC voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new five-year agreement covering 2,400 workers.
Workers, in voting from Oct. 14-24, approved the contract by a margin of 73 percent in favor.
“This agreement preserves medical insurance at an affordable level for our members, and gives UAW members at JCIM new language to improve communication and resolve grievances at the plant level,” said UAW Vice President Cindy Estrada, director of the UAW Competitive Shop/Independents, Parts and Suppliers (CS/IPS) Department.
The agreement with the automotive parts supplier includes an increased company-paid 401(k) contribution for workers and an improved vacation policy.
The agreement covers members of UAW Local 19, in Grand Rapids; Local 600, in Romulus; Local 652, in Lansing; Local 723, in Monroe and Local 9699 in Port Huron, all in Michigan; Local 2083 in McCalla, Ala., and Local 3065 in Kendallville, Ind.
The contract expires Sept. 15, 2015.
