On Saturday, March 9, the International Union, UAW Women’s Department and the Boggs Center to Nurture Community Leadership – with Michigan, Detroit and metro Detroit community organizations and leaders – will celebrate International Women’s Day.
The annual event aims to elevate labor and community collaboration and create a common vision to facilitate neighborhood work and community projects.
Special guest speakers are International Union, UAW Vice President Cindy Estrada and philosopher-activist Grace Lee Boggs. Morning and afternoon workshops will focus on enhancing participants’ ability to create communities of compassion. Various organizations will be present to answer questions from potential volunteers to assist in community and neighborhood building.
All are invited to attend this free celebration and learning experience. Doors open at 9 a.m.; the program kicks off at 10 a.m. A continental breakfast and lunch are provided.
