2013 Family Scholarship Program awaits your application

Sign up now for once-in-a-lifetime learning experience at Black Lake

Applications are now available for this summer’s 2013 Family Scholarship Program at the Walter and May Reuther UAW Family Education Center in Onaway, Mich.

The long-running program allows UAW members to rediscover and reinvigorate their labor activism while providing a fun learning experience for the family.

To be eligible for a family scholarship, you must be an active UAW member in good standing for at least a year and never have attended the scholarship program. Your union pays for all the lodging, food and program costs. (Participants may choose to pay for other things, such as group photographs, gift shop items, golf or activities in nearby communities.)

Children ages 3-7 and 8-11 go to age-appropriate day camps where they participate in creative arts, music, games, athletics and swimming. Youngsters ages 12-15 get their feet wet in labor activism with specially designed workshops, plus activities such as golf, swimming and gym games. Teens ages16-18 participate in a program to prepare them for the working world.

The summer 2013 sessions are scheduled for July 7-12, July 14-19 and July 21-26.
