Council Executive Officers: An executive board of elected local union leaders.
Affiliated Local Unions: Where they are and the workers they represent
The UAW has several councils and subcouncils that bring together local unions with common interests. Usually a council represents workers in the same jobs and/or industries.
The purpose of this council is to better acquaint members of affiliated local unions with conditions within the bus, engine, truck and related industries plants.
Our main objectives are:
- Security, welfare, wages,
hours and working conditions within the industry.
- To protect, maintain and
coordinate the activities of all affiliated Local Unions.
- To cooperate in helping
all Bus, Engine, Truck and Related Industries Workers organize and join the UAW.
- To oppose discrimination
and educate our members of their legal rights, provided by existing laws.
- To plan and promote higher standards of wages, benefits and working conditions in all affiliated Local Unions.
We are committed to developing relationships with other international unions and their local unions and/or agents, who also represent workers in bus, engine, truck and related industries.
Our objective is to meet annually with them to gather and share information of mutual concern. We are also developing and implementing coordinated bargaining with other international unions and their local unions.
Unification in bargaining will be a winner for all unions.
